"Lies" is Picture-Locked!

Hello friends!

"Lies" is officially picture-locked! Phew! It's thirty-three minutes long and I'm ridiculously happy with it.

Now that the edit is done, we move on to the last details. There are some sound issues that need fixing and some dialogue that needs to be re-recorded.

Also, the cut now gets sent to Jon Armont, so he can take a look at the picture and start working on the musical score, which I'm really excited about.

Hopefully, it won't be long until the movie is finalized and you all can take a look. I'll keep you updated as we near the end of post-production.

Stay tuned!

"Lies" Shooting Update

Another movie shot!

The "Lies" shoot went incredibly well. We had it scheduled to shoot both Sunday night and Monday night, but we moved fast enough that we got it all done by the end of Sunday night! Don't you just love short films?

It's always so nice to get people back together for a project. I see Rachel, Mike, and Jess every now and then when we're not filming, but it's always great when we get together to work on something. They're both so incredibly good at what they do, it's great just to watch them do their thing.

Sunday was a LONG night. Rachel and I got there at 6pm to rehearse a bit and work out the blocking. Mike and Jess showed up a little after 7 and we were shooting around 8. By about 1am, we'd done the stuff I'd wanted to get done. We had the choice of either going home early, but having another late night on Monday, or we could power through for another couple hours and then just be done with it. We decided to power through. A little 3 in the morning, we had it.

I'm really excited to get this cut together. It's a short, so it shouldn't take too much time. I'm cutting together two films at once, but it's a good time. I'll keep you posted. Stay tuned!

"The Crow: Angels on Fire" Screening Recap

We screened "The Crow: Angels on Fire" tonight for the cast and crew. In attendance were Vanessa Rose Parker (Angela), James Barry (Ian), Thom Houghton (Stretch), Christopher Gomez (Payaso), Mike Robinson (Cameraman), and Jess Lee Johnson (Key Makeup FX).

The screening went very well. Reaction was overwhelmingly popular, which always makes me happy. I enjoy it when actors and crew are proud to have their name on the project. I was so glad that everybody who came could make it and we missed those who weren't able to attend. Hopefully, I'll see them soon or just drop a DVD in the mail so they can see how their work turned out.

If anyone is interested in getting a copy of the movie on DVD, just drop me a line and let me know.

Now, it's on to editing "People Like Us" and pre-production on "Lies", the short film I'm shooting in June with Alma. Once May hits, she and I are going to start getting together for weekly rehearsals. I'll keep you all updated regarding both projects in the coming weeks.

"The Crow: Angels on Fire" is COMPLETED!

Done! Final Cut and on DVD!

I’m ridiculously proud of this movie ... When we shot this movie in October of last year, I knew it was going to be special to me. I was unprepared for my emotional reaction to the finished film. I see my movies so many times during editing, that it’s tough for me to watch them with any sense of objectivity. But this movie has many moments that touch me, and that makes me so happy.

The movie has a running time of one hour. In a week, I’ll show the film to the cast and crew. Shortly thereafter, I’ll send DVDs to anyone who wants one. If you’re interested in checking out the movie, let me know.

There are so many people who helped make this movie happen. Not just the actors and crew involved, but other people who are way too many to mention here. You know who you are and I’m so grateful to every single one of you. This is a movie that holds such a special place in my heart and you all were a part of it.

Production Diary #10 - THAT'S A WRAP!

"People Like Us" has wrapped filming!

I almost can't believe it ... I've lived with this story for so long, it hasn't quite sunk in that I actually finished shooting it. It feels really good. The day went very well. We started off with our six main characters having a party. It was an early start, but we powered through. It's funny to me that it took until the last day of filming for all six of these actors to meet each other, but with Alma not being at the read-through and Anne coming in halfway through production, that's how it goes. Fun was had.

After that, Rachel, Kira, Alma, and Anne were wrapped. We still had a few scenes to shoot with James and Clay. I don't know if it was because we all started early, or because we knew it was the last day, but everyone got VERY giggly. Lots of gag reel stuff. And then it happened. We finished filming.

I'm so grateful to everyone who worked on this movie. Everyone brought their A game, and it showed. I'm so drained that, when I say I'm going to take a break before starting to edit, I think I actually mean it this time. I'm definitely looking forward to putting the movie together, but I need some time to recharge before I get to it.

I can't express how good it feels to be done filming ... I triumphed! Movie Gods be damned! Or maybe they were FINALLY on my side ... Either way, it's pretty cool. Once I start editing, I'll be back with post-production reports.

Signing off for now,

~Vincent~
